Following their acquisition by private equity firm PAI Partners at the end of last year, Winterbotham Darby and the Addo Food Group have announced that they will merge under a new company name – The Compleat Food Group.
The move will see the two businesses come together under a matrix organisational structure that aims to support plans to become the “UK’s No.1 chilled prepared food company”.
Addo specialises in chilled savoury pastry products with brands such as Pork Farms, Wall’s and Bowyer’s. Meanwhile, Winterbotham Darby makes continental meats, olives and antipasti. Before the acquisition by PAI, both firms had experienced strong growth supplying own-label and branded products to grocery retailers and the foodservice sector.
Paul Monk, executive chair of The Compleat Food Group, said: “This is an exciting moment for the group, we will be able to better serve our customers, provide more opportunities for our colleagues and offer a greater range of products. Our new name demonstrates the group’s passion for food whilst providing a platform for future category growth and acquisitions.
“The new group matrix structure enables us to benefit from a dual focus on our key product categories and functional expertise and reflects our desire to create the best possible combination of the former Addo and Winterbotham Darby businesses, bringing us all together as one company.”
