Pernod Ricard UK has appointed Liam Murphy to the position of Marketing Director. He replaces Leanne Banks, who has moved to the position of Marketing Director, Business Acceleration, at Chivas Brothers, Pernod Ricard’s Scotch Whisky business.
Having begun his career within the marketing agency world, Murphy then moved into the drinks industry, working to develop challenger brands. This led him to Pernod Ricard UK nearly 10 years ago, working in commercial roles, including Customer Marketing Manager, Senior Brand Manager, Marketing Manager, Customer Business Unit Controller (Prestige). Most recently, he has been Brand Director, heading up a team responsible for the marketing strategies and campaigns for Pernod Ricard’s Vodka, Gin, Scotch Whisky, Liqueurs and Ready-To-Drink ranges.
Julia Massies, Managing Director at Pernod Ricard UK, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Liam to the team and know he will bring energy and a fresh perspective based on the wealth of knowledge from his strong mix of commercial and marketing experience.”
In his new role, Murphy will oversee consumer marketing, including brand management, performance, social and experiential activities across the department. He will report directly to Massies.
Last month, the French firm reported a 1% fall in sales on an organic basis to $11.6bn over the 12 months to 30 June after demand for its spirits and wines was impacted by global economic and geopolitical uncertainty. However, it expects its sales to grow again during its current financial year, even if challenges in some key markets persist.
