PROPERCORN Moving Into Crisps Category

Popcorn brand PROPERCORN has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of ‘PROPERCHIPS’, a new range of better-for-you crisps.

The lentil-based snack comes in four flavours – Barbecue, Sweet Sriracha Chilli, Sea Salt, and Sour Cream & Chive – with each containing 30% less fat than leading crisp brands and under 100 calories per 20g serving. The all vegan collection also uses natural seasonings and is high in fibre and iron.

PROPERCHIPS will start rolling out to retailers this month in single and sharing formats with RRPs of 80p for 20g packs and £1.99 for an 80g bag. As a healthier sharing option, the company stated that is looking to capitalise on the popularity of pre-dinner snacking and the ubiquitous ‘chip and dip’ moment.

PROPERCHIPS

The launch marks the brand’s first move outside of popcorn with it transitioning to the name PROPER as part of its ambitions to develop products in other snacking categories.

The company’s co-founder, Cassandra Stavrou said: “PROPERCHIPS marks an incredibly exciting new era for PROPER and catapults us from leading premium popcorn-maker to a big player in better-for-you.

“PROPERCHIPS was created for the next generation of snacker, whose expectations on great flavour and health are higher than ever. There’s nothing on the market that’s ticking these boxes whilst really exciting shoppers, so we have no doubt that PROPERCHIPS will enjoy the same success that our popcorn continues to.”

The move comes a year after the company appointed Mike Hedges, the former MD of premium crisp maker Tyrrells, as its Chief Executive.
