Reckitt Appointed Official Hygiene Partner For COP26

Reckitt has been announced as a ‘Principal Partner’ for COP26, the major international climate change summit due to take place in Glasgow this November.

The British firm, which last week rebranded from RB (Reckitt Benckiser) to simply Reckitt, is the maker of leading hygiene range Dettol. It has already been working with the Football Association and British Airways to help them provide enhanced hygiene protection during the pandemic.

For COP26, Reckitt will support the UK government in delivering a safe conference – providing advice and scientific expertise on hygiene protocols, and supplying Dettol products to help prevent the spread of viruses, including Covid.

Reckitt is the eighth Principal Partner who will support the delivery of COP26, which seen as a key event to combat climate change. The company joins SSE, ScottishPower, NatWest Group, National Grid, Sky, Sainsbury’s, and Hitachi.

Reckitt itself has already committed to meet the Paris Climate Agreement by 2030; be carbon neutral by 2040; and power its all operations with 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

Laxman Narasimhan, CEO at Reckitt said: “We’re delighted to be the Hygiene Partner for COP26 and provide our expertise at this pivotal moment in our collective fight against climate change. Throughout our 200-year heritage, we have used our scientific expertise to advance public health, including the innovation of Dettol in Hull in the 1930s to tackle the scourge of sepsis.

“Today we have reinforced our commitments to combat climate change in our ‘For A Cleaner, Healthier World’ roadmap. Climate change, planetary health and public health are intrinsically linked. As the world convenes to take collective action in November, we look forward to playing our part in a successful, historic and safe summit.”
