Pladis, the group behind brands such as McVitie’s, Flipz, and GODIVA, saw its revenues surpass the £3bn milestone for the first time during the year ending 31st December 2024.
Revenue at the London-headquartered firm rose 17% to £3.23bn, driven by double-digit growth in international markets. Operating profit increased 4% to £344.4m, whilst EBITDA was up 11% to £486.9bn, bolstered by “strong operational discipline, brand-led growth and cost efficiency”.
Over the year, pladis’ growth was bolstered by several new product innovations, such as the introduction of a ‘Cola Bottle’ flavour for its Jaffa Cakes brand and a new range, Jacob’s Bites. Through its Ülker brand in Türkiye, the company was also one of the first chocolatiers to bring the viral Dubai chocolate trend to the mainstream, shipping 3,176 tonnes between August and December 2024.
Sridhar Ramamurthy, Chief Financial Officer, commented: “2024 represented another year of strong progress for pladis as we cement our position as one of the fastest-growing global snacking companies. Our iconic brands continue to delight billions of consumers each year, and our focus on innovation means we have the agility to respond to consumer desire for both indulgence and healthier snacking.
“Our performance is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our 16,000 colleagues and is a great achievement given the challenging macroeconomic environment, including cocoa price inflation and currency fluctuations.
“While maintaining financial discipline, we are investing now to fuel our growth tomorrow, including in digital infrastructure, research and development and brand advertising.
“Looking ahead, we have a clear strategic growth plan which underpins our ambition, enabling us to capitalise on our leading market positions and the unique growth opportunities available to us as we harness the momentum we are building.”
The results come on the back of the company’s recent announcement that it is investing £68m to bolster its operations in the UK.
