Aldi is now the cheapest supermarket for a weekly shop, according to the latest price comparison by consumer watchdog Which?
The survey compares prices for a trolley of 85 items, including food, drink and household essentials. Aldi’s total for July came to £78.50, narrowly beating its discount rival Lidl (£79.46) that has been the cheapest in recent months.
Asda was the most competitive amongst the big supermarket multiples with a total of £88.29. It was followed by Tesco (£98.48), Morrisons (£99.30), and Sainsbury’s (£103.26). Ocado and Waitrose were way back on £117.85 and £122.47 respectively.
