Aldi has agreed a two-year partnership that will see it provide Salvation Army stores across the UK with unsold, non-food Specialbuys, such as kitchen accessories, home furnishings and clothing, at a reduced cost.
The stores will then resell the discounter’s products, with profits going towards the charity’s work with the homeless, elderly and families.
The nationwide initiative follows a year-long trial with the trading arm of the charity, during which Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) raised over £350,000 through the sale of Aldi products in its stores.
Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi, said: “We’re committed to doing all that we can to support our local communities, and it’s great to be able to support The Salvation Army stock their stores. We know the profits raised will provide vital funds for the charity to continue its ongoing work to support those who need it most across the country.”
Kirk Bradley, Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Salvation Army, added: “We are delighted to partner with Aldi to offer some of its products in our stores. This partnership will contribute to providing a vital funding source for our charity as well as great quality products to our customers across the UK.”
