Booths Promoting Reusable Containers To Reduce Plastic

The Booths chain has become the latest major retailer in the UK to introduce the use of reusable containers by customers, as it looks to reduce the use of plastic in its stores.

The premium supermarket banner said it is encouraging shoppers to bring their own containers when buying fresh meat and fresh fish from its in-store counters.

Booths noted: “Enabling our customers to bring their own clean, lidded containers to purchase fresh meat and fish from our counters is a natural progression towards becoming more sustainable.”

The move follows the elimination of all plastic cutlery for takeaway counter products and own label pre-packed ready-to-go items. Booths is also introducing glass bottles and cans instead of plastic bottles at its café, switching to paper straws instead of plastic, and introducing reusable cotton net bags for loose produce.
