Can Supermarkets Help Turn the Tide on Obesity?

This report, published by The Consumer Goods Forum and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, reviews the Collaboration for Healthier Lives UK’s first year, where retailers and manufacturers came together with the aim of trying improve the health of their consumers. As part of the initiative, a series of trials were ran over the course of a year in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.

Companies trialled a total of 34 interventions using a range of approaches to improve the healthiness of consumer baskets. In-store trials were prioritised and included changes to pricing and promotions, availability, choice architecture, shelf and nutritional labelling as well as social feedback techniques.
