JLP Appoints Interim Finance Head

The John Lewis Partnership has announced the appointment of Andy Mounsey as its Interim Executive Director for Finance. He will replace Bérangère Michel, who announced in April that she would be leaving the group after 16 years.

Michel will leave on 6 September, at which point Mounsey will take over the Executive Director for Finance role.

Mounsey is currently JLP’s Group Finance and Strategy Director and has been with the business for 12 years in a number of senior finance roles.

Nish Kankiwala, the Partnership’s Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Andy is a highly experienced and valued member of our finance team, with a deep understanding of the Partnership and the retail sector. I am delighted that Andy is able to support the Partnership during this interim phase to ensure a smooth transition and our continued focus on executing against our transformation plan.”

Mounsey added: “The Partnership‘s finances are in a healthy position enabling us to invest significantly across the business for our customers. I’m looking forward to working with the Board and Executive Team to continue our transformation journey.”

JLP noted that the process to recruit a permanent Executive Director for Finance was under way.

NAM Implications:
  • This in-house interim appointment gives JLP time to recruit a fitting replacement for Michel…
  • …whilst maintaining the momentum in executing their transformation programme.
  • i.e. anticipate minimal change in implementing their plan.
