After last month promoting Trevor Strain to the role of COO and Michael Gleeson as CFO, Morrisons has today announced further changes to its management team.
Andy Atkinson has been appointed as Group Commercial Director, reporting to Strain. He joined Morrisons over eight years ago, initially in a commercial role, and has been Group Customer and Marketing Director for almost five years. In his new role, Atkinson will be responsible for the company’s trading and manufacturing business.
Meanwhile, David Lepley has been promoted to Group Retail Director, reporting to Chief Executive David Potts. He joined Morrisons from Asda almost four years ago and has held senior retail operations and supply chain roles. Lepley will replace Gary Mills, who is leaving to “pursue other interests” after nearly five years helping with the supermarket group’s turnaround plan.
Potts commented: “Our Executive Committee listen to and lead our team of foodmakers and shopkeepers as they continue to improve the shopping trip for customers. Today’s changes, together with Trevor and Michael’s appointments, are part of our plans to continue the momentum of the turnaround and bring new generations of talent through the Morrisons ranks.”
Analysts have suggested that Strain is being lined up to take over as CEO once Potts decides his turnaround programme is complete.
