Tesco has become the latest supermarket to start the new year with another round of price cuts that reflect easing cost pressures.
The UK’s leading grocer has reduced the cost of more than 150 everyday items by an average of 12.5%. Products included span fresh fruit and veg, as well as cupboard staples such as coffee, bolognese sauce, baked beans, and breakfast cereal.
Group Chief Commercial Officer, Ashwin Prasad, said: “After the expense of Christmas, January can really stretch family budgets and families are looking for great value more than at any other time. By focusing our price cuts on truly popular items, customers will find it’s even easier to spend less at Tesco.”
NAM Implications:
- Every little helps..
- And if price cutting of staples cuts into rivals’ convenience offering, even better…
