M&S To Supply Food To 2,500 Costa Coffee Stores

Marks & Spencer has agreed a deal to supply its on-the-go food range to the Costa Coffee chain.

M&S-Costa-foodFrom next year, Costa’s customers will be able to choose from over 30 M&S Food products, including sandwiches, salads, hot meal boxes, and children’s food. The range will be available in over 2,500 Costa Coffee stores across the UK as well as via its Drive-Thru sites.

Neil Lake, Managing Director of Costa Coffee UK&I, said: “As we continue to craft new coffee experiences across our stores, Costa Express machines, and Costa coffee in a can and at-home offer, we are bringing together two of the very best brands in a UK-first to launch the Costa Coffee Now Serving M&S Food range.

“This collaboration with M&S Food will build on our existing food range and help us fulfil our ambition to become the first choice for customers buying food and coffee on-the-go.”

Stuart Machin, Chief Operating Officer and M&S Food Managing Director, noted that the collaboration gives more people the opportunity to enjoy its on-the-go food range, not just on the high street but in neighbourhood locations and retail parks.

He added: “Bringing together delicious, great quality M&S Food and the Nation’s largest chain of coffee shops is great for customers as it extends our reach and supports our strategy of making M&S more relevant, more often for families.”

Last month, sandwich chain Pret A Manger announced that it was moving into the self-service coffee machine market as part of its diversification strategy.

NAM Implications:
  • If creativity is linking two established ideas in a new way…
  • …then this ‘Costa Coffee Now Serving M&S Food range’ initiative should produce incremental sales.
  • A win-win for each?
