Sainsbury’s Rolling Out Chop Chop Service Across 20 cities

Sainsbury’s has started expanding its rapid bike delivery service to stores outside of London for the first time.

It is being rolled out to 50 outlets in 20 cities across the country. Once completed, around 3.2 million households will be able to get Sainsbury’s groceries delivered within an hour.

The retailer highlighted that the service will give customers who are self-isolating or less able to travel to stores another way to get supplies. Customers can order up to 20 products from a range of around 3,000 essential grocery and household items via a special app.

Chop Chop was rolled out across London in April as part of Sainsbury’s push to meet the increased demand for grocery deliveries during coronavirus outbreak. The service launched in Brighton and Bristol yesterday with Manchester, Reading and Richmond, Morden, Charlton and Harringay in Greater London to follow next week.

Sainsbury’s stated that the rapid expansion will support its efforts to increase the total number of online delivery slots for its groceries online service to 600,000 per week.

“Demand for home grocery deliveries has never been higher and we have been receiving great feedback for Chop Chop, with customers really valuing the speed and convenience it brings. By rolling Chop Chop out to 50 stores in 20 cities across the country, even more customers can get what they need delivered to their door.”
