Co-op Wholesale is extending its Roadchef partnership with an agreement to supply WHSmith stores at motorway service areas.
Earlier this year, Co-op Wholesale and motorway service area operator Roadchef agreed on a multi-year contract that will see the Co-op’s own brand range rolled out to eight grocery stores on Roadchef sites previously operated by SPAR. This first such co-branded store opened in June.
The latest agreement will see Co-op Wholesale supply a selection of ambient, chilled, and frozen food and drink, including branded and own-brand products, to 31 WHSmith stores at Roadchef sites nationwide from early next month.
Ian King, Director of Business Development and Growth at Co-op Wholesale, said: “This marks an exciting next step in our partnership with Roadchef where we’re on a fantastic start and accelerating momentum. This is a reflection on the strength of our proposition, and flexibility of the model to ensure we’re bringing growth for our partners in a way that suits them and their business.”
Kevin Whitehouse, Retail, Procurement & Supply Chain Director at Roadchef, added: “At Roadchef, we’re continuously working to enhance the customer experience across our service areas. Extending our partnership with Co-op Wholesale into WHSmith stores is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring we remain a top choice for motorists seeking convenience, variety, and quality on their journeys.”
NAM Implications:
- Good for WH Smith to partner for a package deal on their motorway Service station sites.
- Albeit limited opportunities for food brands.
- Still, every little helps…
