Following a trial opening of its Manchester site earlier this month, confectionery wholesaler Hancocks has today reopened a further three cash & carry stores in Birmingham, Glasgow and Watford.
The firm closed all 19 of its branches at the end of March due to coronavirus-related safety concerns.
The stores being reopening will trade with reduced hours (10am – 4pm) with social distancing measures in place. It plans to reopen more sites over the coming weeks.
Whilst its stores were closed, Hancocks said that its e-commerce business had been “performing strongly” with sales doubling since the lockdown began.
NAM Implications:
- Issue for a wholesaler facing increased social-distancing costs…
- …has to be the bottom line impact…
- …in a narrow margin business.
