Parfetts has marked the first anniversary of its Birmingham depot by reaching the milestone of 60 Go Local stores in the region.
The wholesaler is celebrating the milestone with a ‘Birthday Bonanza’ trade week at the Birmingham cash & carry site that features promotional offers on 742 lines across all categories until 20 April.
The company revealed that it has now expanded its Birmingham-based team of retail development advisors to 10 to support further expansion.
Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, commented: “The success of the Birmingham depot has exceeded all expectations. The experienced team focused on building footfall before rolling out our delivered offer, which extends the reach of the business across the Midlands and down the M40 into Gloucestershire.
“Go Local gives customers access to a wide range of support, including store development advice and, just as importantly, the best prices and margins.”
Parfetts supports over 1,300 retailers through its Go Local and The Local fascia group and operates a retail club with over 5,000 members.
In its latest results, Parfetts turnover rose 6.7% to £646m, with operating profit increasing 51% to £8.5m. The group noted that profits would be invested back into the business with the continued expansion of its delivery network, depot operations and symbol estate.
NAM Implications:
- Parfetts appear to be investing in success…
- …with one eye on bottom-line performance.
- Logically they should be sensitive to finance-based business proposals from suppliers.
- i.e. NAMs need to spell out the financial impact on the Parfetts’ bottom line…
