Sales Jump 22.5% At JJ Foodservice

Wholesaler JJ Foodservice saw its sales climb 22.5% to £270m over the year to 31 March 2022.

The company attributed its strong growth to several factors, including the re-opening of the hospitality sector after the pandemic and the retention of new consumers gained during the crisis.

In addition, an increase in JJ own brand sales and working with suppliers to maintain stock levels, despite supply chain disruptions, contributed to the positive figures.

The wholesaler’s Chief Finance Officer, Edward Lanham, said: “Our customers have recognised the savings they can make by shopping own brand. We have more than 600 private label products, which offer high quality, great value alternatives to many leading brands.”

Over the 12-month period, 36% of the group’s total sales came from JJ own-brand products, an increase of 20% for the same period the previous year. The group noted that the own-brand range offers it a better gross profit margin, so boosting profits. Popular JJ lines include Super Crisp chips, Letsdough bakery and VIVAT water.

Meanwhile, the group highlighted that its product availability remained at a robust 98.7% despite supply chain disruptions.
